Straight from an HR Consultant: 10 Reasons to I Chose to Get Certified as a CliftonStrengths Coach

I recently made the decision to get certified as a CliftonStrengths coach. In doing so, I found their system of measuring the natural patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving to be one of the most powerful assessment tools we have available

The CliftonStrengths assessment measures talents and categorizes them into 34 CliftonStrengths “themes.” These themes help individuals and organizations identify, understand, appreciate and build natural talents into strengths that can improve daily performance in all aspects of our lives.

Here are 10 reasons why I became a CliftonStrengths coach:

  1. CliftonStrengths helps us better understand why we do what we do, why we like certain things, and why we are better at some things than others.

  2. The lens of Clifton Strengths gives me a level of expertise to help employers help employees be the best they can be.

  3. CliftonStrengths helps employers build a strength-based employee development culture, which is necessary for building inclusiveness for diversified teams.

  4. Conventional approaches to employee development have focused on maintaining an employee’s strengths and working on fixing their weaknesses. A strengths-based approach focuses on identifying and building strengths and managing weaknesses.

  5. As a long time HR advisor and coach, I’ve always valued a profession that would allow me to help people grow. CliftonStrengths empowers me to help others flourish

  6. Employee engagement is critical to business outcomes. As a Gallup Strengths coach, I can help employers move the needle on engagement.

  7. CliftonStrengths help us appreciate that differences among people are advantages. People need one another!

  8. CliftonStrengths gives teams a common language to talk about how they can collaborate and perform effectively.

  9. Strengths-based coaching improves constructive communication, development and collaboration.

  10. CliftonStrengths helps us see that we all have talents and we all contribute in our own unique way.

Understanding WHY people operate the way they do and embracing the unique contributions of each team member is a powerful conduit to team growth and productivity. Strength-based teams are up to 10% more productive.
